Как и многие развитые европейские страны, Нидерланды прикладывают много сил для того, чтобы круглый год на рынки поступали свежие, экологически чистые и здоровые продукты.

Для этого по всей стране было построено множество теплиц, протяженностью в несколько миль, в которых выращиваются фрукты, овощи и цветы, однако для того, чтобы поддерживать одинаковые темпы производства круглый год, фермерам приходится прикладывать много сил и денег.

Если летом теплицы могут производить фрукты и овощи в достаточном объеме сами по себе, то зимой необходимо закупать большие объемы энергии для того, чтобы обогревать урожай. Ранее, когда было обнаружено первое газовое месторождение, львиная доля добываемого в Нидерландах газа шла на отопление теплиц по смешным ценам.

Однако теперь, когда запасы природного топлива начали подходить к концу, фермеры столкнулись с ростом цен на энергию, что могло привести к тому, что производство могло стать экономически невыгодным.

Именно тогда владельцы теплиц приняли решение перейти на новые виды энергии, и первой в их списке встала энергия солнца, которая бережно собирается при помощи солнечных батарей летом и хранится до зимы, сообщает информационное издание «RNW.nl».
